A little hunger brings me to La Prosciutteria, which is situated at the piazza Matteotti in Perugia. It is not a real restaurant, but a place where you eat sandwiches, cheeses and charcuterie with a good glass of wine. I order a board with cheeses, charcuterie and crostini con salsa al tartufo or toasted bread with truffle cream.
The concept of La Prosciutteria was born in Florence and has since branched out into several Italian cities. It is an informal and small venue without table service. The aim is to imitate the social function of grandmothers’ prosciutterie or fine meat shops. And it works. It certainly smells of tradition here and the interior also radiates authenticity.
