My name is Annette, a passionate lover of life, a mother, and a devoted fan of Italy. My love for food runs deep, and I’m committed to authentic, pure cuisine where simplicity shines. Every small moment in life inspires me to live fully.
From Belgium to Tuscany: A journey of love and culture
In Tuscany, I found love and also a new home. After marrying Giovanni, we moved to the region where I worked for Thomas More University, guiding journalism exchange students.
In 2006, I was honored as an honorary citizen of Sinalunga, a small town filled with rich culture and warm friendships. My children, Ramona, Vittorio, and Lorena, were embraced by this community, attending school with the local ‘suore’.
A taste of tradition: from olive groves to local kitchens
My time in Tuscany was enriched by the friendships I formed with local chefs and farmers. From learning about the chianina cattle breed to harvesting olives with my neighbor, I was constantly immersed in the beauty of Italian culinary traditions.
These experiences continue to inspire my cooking, writing, and storytelling.
Bringing Italy to Belgium: Sette Piatti and beyond
Upon returning to Belgium, I continued my passion for Italian cuisine by running Sette Piatti, an Italian delicatessen and catering service that brought the authentic flavors of Italy to Antwerp. Italophiles still remember the dedication and love I poured into this project.
From cookbook to community: Italia con Gusto e Amore
In 2022, I published my book ‘Italia con Gusto e Amore’ in Dutch. This book is not just about recipes; it’s about celebrating the soul of Italian cuisine through tasting sessions, lectures, and workshops. Under the Gusto e Amore brand, I continue to cook on location, host podcasts, and share the origins of Italian cuisine with others.
In 2024, Italia con Gusto e Amore is translate in English and available worldwide!
